2018 Gippsland Championships 

Dingley steals the sheild from South Gippsland Miners

It was Déjà vu for the South Gippsland Miners Baseball Club as they once again were into the Grand Final of the 2018 Latrobe Valley Baseball Associations Pre-Season Tournament, the Gippsland Championships. 

The Miners were up against the Dingley Baseball Club whom were a tough side to bet throughout the weekend winning all games including their game against the miners before coming into the finals. This was only game that The Miners lost over the 6-game tournament.

Miners started the runs in the halfway through the first innings with Dave Morris hitting a single out to centre, then Stewi Mathieson hitting a single to left field, with Tim Katz hitting a double to right field and scoring Dave Morris home. Dingley came fighting back and fighting back hard in the 3rd Innings with 11 runs scored by Dingley Baseball Club, adding on top of the 5 runs in the 2nd innings. Miners came back putting everything on the field but unfortunately it wasn’t the Miners day with the final score after the 4th innings 18 – 1.
 
 

Grand Final has several highlights with Dingley’s Jack Wills hitting a Home Run to right and scoring another 2 players in the home run. Dingley also getting several double plays throughout the grand final. Jeremy Katz catching a flyball out to centre with high efforts.


Dingley Baseball Club Manager accepted the Shield as well as the flag and thanked all the clubs for playing a competitive weekend of baseball.LVBA would like to thank Supporters, Scorers, All Baseball Clubs who were involved over the weekend and making it another successful Gippy Champs.
